Step 1:
Divide Into Groups of 3-4
- Look over at least 10 verse forms.
- Read poems from poets you each like and want to share with your group.
Step 2: Decide whether your group would like to present on a form or an author.
Step 3: Read at least twenty pages in the form or of the poet (online research and reading together). Take notes as you read to help you gather thoughts for your presentation.
Step 4: Learn about the history of your form or poet. Take notes as you read to help you gather thoughts for your presentation.
Step 5: Create a quality presentation.
- 5-8 minutes on your chosen poet or form. You will teach us:
- The historical background of your form or poet.
- The way the form or poet is viewed today, generally.
- How to explicate one good example poem.
- Create a quality poster or assemble a good digital presentation (keynote, etc.) with a key illustration (drawing, picture, etc.) to aid in learning your verse form.
- Form or Poet (your chosen form to teach us)
- Definition and History (be sure you're accurate, consult multiple sources)
- Example (choose one that helpfully illustrates your form; make sure it is on your poster)
- Memorable Image (your drawing should aid in remembering your form)
- 10 Points for Including All Requirements
- 10 Points for Design and Beauty
- 10 Points for Grammar (Sentence Structure, Spelling, and Punctuation)
- 20 Points for Class Presentation
- Poise
- Transitions (everyone needs to present some part)
- Length: 5-8 minutes
