                                           Response to Letter ______

1. Summary: Suggest a new, fitting title that fits the subject matter of the chapter.

2. Vocabulary: Identify, copy, and define at least one challenging word from this letter.

3. Selection: Copy down an interesting quotation from the text, and please "conclude your quotation with an MLA citation." "Does that make sense?" Lewis once asked his dog, Jacksie (Lewis 4, 7).

4. Analysis and Understanding: Answer the following questions concerning your quotation.
  • What does Screwtape mean by it?
  • How is Lewis being ironic or satirical? Invert Screwtape’s words and meaning. (If there is no irony, then how might Lewis agree with Screwtape?)

5.  Cultural Connection: How might an idea (ideally, but not always necessarily, from the quote above) presented in this chapter apply today?  Explain.

6.  Biblical Wisdom: Find one Bible verse, story, parable, or Christian doctrine (such as from the Nicene Creed or Westminster Catechism) that also speaks to your cultural connection idea. Explain how biblical wisdom supports, refutes, reflects, or otherwise relates to the idea you're focusing on in this chapter.

7.  Application: Explain one practical action you can take to make your or another's life better based on what you've studied and learned from this letter, your cultural connection, and biblical wisdom.
