Tuesday, 2/5/13: Grammar, Midsummer

* Open

* Midsummer Review (Acts I-II)

* Antigone reviewed.  Please take these notes:
  • Weave your quotes into your sentence, "For instance, here is an example"; it helps you establish context, quote, and commentary seamlessly (Schwager 105).  Notice what I write, "You capitalize on the way in, unless your quote follows the natural grammar of the sentence," and you need a comma or other punctuator on the way out (110).  But if the "quote follows the natural grammar" of the sentence, you do not use the capitalization or puncutators to set off the quotation; the quote is embedded in the clause, not an interruption of the clause (110).
  • Reminder: Underline book, play, and other long work Titles when handwriting; italicize Titles when typing.
  • MLA: Measure your margins
  • Key issue: You have three body paragraphs, each one with a sweet topic sentence.  Great.  Do you have three key supports for each topic?  Oops.
HW:
  • (Schwager) Read acts IV-V(you will be answering 4 questions from each of these acts for a total of 8 responses for Journal 16).
  • (Reno) Prepare for your poetry recitation (Wed) and your Midsummer test (Thurs)
