Tuesday, 1/15/12: Essays and Antigone

* (Schwager) Essays
  • Essay Notes on Imagery (copy and put in the Notes section of your binder)
    • Be specific with the type(s) of imagery the image evokes (visual, aural, tactile, etc.)
    • Quote from the poem correctly.  Frost concludes, "Never again would birds' song be the same. / And to do that to birds was why she came" (13-14).
    • Good MLA quoting reminders in brief.  
    • Provide good commentary to tie your quote back to your paragraph topic and essay thesis. 
    • Transition to your next paragraph. 
    • Follow the arc of the poem when writing (do not begin with the last image or later image, generally).  
* Antigone

*(Reno) Grammar and Hobbit
  • Do the first page on the PDF handout of Bedford 22 exercises
  • Read The Hobbit (finish chapter 1 for HW)

* Extra time? Read.

HW:
